Unfortunately, Christmas Season is Upon Us

by Dan Allen on November 29, 2006

Last year vendors were so afraid of using the term ‘Merry Christmas’ and used the watered-down theological-friendly phrase ‘Happy Holidays’.

Every year, Christians bitch and moan that consumerism has secularized Christmas. I wondered if Wiccans and Satanists feel the same way about Halloween.

Wiccan
It’s just not the same anymore.

Satanist
I agree. When I was a kid, you get together with a bunch of guys. Kill a cat, bleed a goat, maybe TP the block, but now…Satan H. Lucifer…it’s just corporations pushing sugar, booze, and slutty costumes. No, thank you.

Wiccan
Agreed.

It’s hard to feel bad for Christians because 2,000 years ago Romans bitched and moaned that monotheism had de-paganized their Winter Solstice.

With that logic, consumerism will become a new religion.
